Christmas is the occasion when wishes come true. Wishes are very much part of the Christmas traditions. It is believed that Santa reads the Christmas wish list and makes your wishes come true. From the young to the old, all believe in this merry tradition and wait in anticipation to have their fervent desires come true.

Children in particular are most excited with this festival. They have the opportunity to wish for the latest gizmos, trendiest clothes and latest toys. Although at the end, it is not Santa and their loved ones who fulfill their wish in the form of Santa, this little gesture makes their day. They offer people the chance to list their wishes in an e-card and mail to Santa. Online sites let you create ‘My Christmas Wish List’ pages to share your list with family members and friends. Such sites also have options for you to check what has already been brought for someone so you wouldn’t buy again. Some applications give you the chance to put in pictures and explanation about the things listed in your wish list.

Schools have children make up their Christmas wish list before Christmas. Those lists are put up on the notice board for all to see and a few lucky ones have their wishes granted. Big organizations and personalities try to bring joy in other life in the sacred occasion of Christmas and go down to orphanages, hospitals and under privileged schools to grant wishes. Special parties and gift sessions are organized for children to make Christmas a happy occasion for them. Many celebrities involved in causes like Cancer and HIV AIDS take time out from their celebration to meet the patients and spend time with them. There are secret Santa Societies where member’s names are put in a hat, and each person draws a name for whom they are supposed to buy a gift. Each member also has to submit a Christmas wish list from which the gift-giver can choose. Finally presents are exchanged anonymously.

Wishing brings hope to a person’s life. We all know that our hard work helps us to achieve what we want. However there are times that we just wish something we want would happen.
