The tradition of Christmas trees decorations began with the intermingling of ancient Roman beliefs and campaigns to spread the
Christian religion. It was believed that certain trees flowered on Christmas Eve as homage to Jesus' birth. This belief was combined with the
Roman practice of decorating homes for the New Year. Later in Germany, the tradition of ‘Christmas tree decorations’ was officially termed and
from there spread across the world.
Christmas trees are usually evergreen coniferous trees placed both outdoors and indoors to liven the décor. They are decorated
with Christmas lights, also called fairy lights, and bright ornaments to make it attractive and festive. The top of the tree normally has a star
or an angel which signifies the star of Bethlehem or the host of Angels. Colorful ribbons, garlands and tinsels are artistically placed on the
trees. . Stockings and beads are hung on its branches. They may be hung in clumps or left as single strands hanging from the tree. Ribbons are
cheap and are used to make big bows to add to the wonderful festive look
Now days, sets for Christmas tree decorations are available in the markets. They come in all shapes and sizes. People buy
flowers, wreaths, waxes and ceramic miniature figures of angels and other symbolic items made from woven fibers of real trees. Most of these
items are decorated further with pretty laces and beads. An interesting method of Christmas tree decorations is using food items, especially for
outdoor trees. People often make garlands of food that birds and wildlife enjoy, like unsalted popcorn or cranberries.
Another popular way of decorating trees is selecting a theme. Themes make a significant change to the look of your tree and
create a lively décor. You can pick either a traditional theme or a modern one with different color themes to liven the spirit. Common color
themes include Crimson, green, white, silvers and blue. Each theme has some item especially for it like the Crimson color theme popularly has a
crimson faux fruit while whites have candles. Often families leave the theme to their children to make them feel special and happy. As a result,
sports and computers themes are very much sporting the trees. Likewise food lovers can add their own personal touch and make a chocolate tree or
a candy one.
